Years ago, my friend told me about this marriage book she read about how to “affair-proof” your marriage. I was instantly skeptical because my husband and I have a solid marriage and the word “affair” had never even entered my mind. She felt the same about her marriage, but assured me that it improved her relationship immensely.
Soon after, I decided to look it up on Amazon. It had great reviews and even a fun little quiz at the end (I’m a sucker for a good quiz) and so I bought it. And I’m so glad I did. The book covers a man and woman’s five basic needs. They are not at all similar (but of course neither are men and women), yet each of them rang true with my husband and I.
As I actively applied each need to my husband, and treated them of utmost importance, I immediately noticed that he was happier. And he noticed too! In fact, he was so happy that he decided to read it so he could learn how to meet my needs. I keep the book handy and whenever I read it, our marriage seems to naturally flow. I don’t automatically meet all of his needs without a good conscious effort, but this book is a great reminder of how I can “affair-proof” my marriage.
If you want to transform your marriage, you can get the book here:

I got married in September of last year and my husband and I got this book as a wedding gift! I read the first couple of pages and this post is inspiration to put it on my reading list and to share it with my husband as well.
Like Renee, I have never heard of this book. I am a sucker for a good quiz, too, so it might be worth it just for that. 🙂 I feel like I have a pretty solid marriage, but my husband and I are VERY different – opposites in many ways – and I am sure that I am not always the best at meeting his needs. I will give this book a try. Thanks for the recommendation.
I feel the exact same way – solid marriage, but total opposites. I think you will LOVE this book!
