My Top 10 Forgotten Books for Latter-day Saints

If you’re looking for some uplifting books to read, be sure to check out my blog post: My Top 10 Books for Latter-day Saints. And if you’re looking for my favorite forgotten books for Latter-day Saints, you’ve come to the right place.

Real vs. Rumor: How to Dispel Latter-day Myths by Keith Erekson

With instant access to anyone’s opinion online these days, this books really helped me understand not only popular Latter-day myths, but also a great framework for how to recognize Latter-day rumors from reality. This framework is such a needed skill in today’s world and I highly recommend this amazing book.

Sisters in Zion: Hope and Inspiration for Women by Marilynne T. Linford

My sweet mother recommended this book to me and it was just as full of hope and inspiration as the title promises. Every Latter-day woman should read this (and the other two parts of this series). This book is full of beautiful stories that will fill you with faith and encouragement.

We Are Sisters: Inspiration and Hope for Women by Marilynne T. Linford

This is the second book in the series and full of even more faith-filled stories and relatable experiences. Each story is unique, so I do recommend reading all three of these books. I may have liked this book even more than the first.

Sister to Sister: Inspiration for Women by Marilynne T. Linford

Finally, the last book of this inspirational series for women. Each chapter covers a different and important topic in the Latter-day woman’s world. Whatever you are going through, these three books can give you hope through it all.

Changed Through His Grace by Brad Wilcox

Grace is simple, yet complex concept, and this book did such a beautiful job of explaining it to me. This book talks about how grace is different and so much more than we think of it. You’ll understand grace in a whole new way. I have read several books about grace, and this one is by far my favorite.

One by One by David A. Bednar

Watching out for “the one” is a topic Elder Bednar talks about a lot, and for good reason. He has so many great stories and experiences he shares that will encourage you to minister to those around you one by one, and also learn how to listen as the Spirit tells you who and how to minister to them.

The StewardshipPrinciple: Reframing Your Life by Ganel-Lyn Condie

Stewardship is such an important part of our mortality that I think many of us overlook or simply don’t quite understand. But when we understand how stewardship actually works, we can have greater strength and power in our families, our callings, and all of our earthly experiences.

Way to Be! 9 Ways To Be Happy And Make Something Of Your Life by Gordon B. Hinckley

Want to be instantly uplifted? Read this book from the most optimistic man I’ve ever known. I read this as a teenager and again just last year. I love how he talks about finding joy and true happiness in any situation we may have in life.

Holding On: Impulses to Leave and Strategies to Stay by S. Michael Wilcox

Another really great read in a world of instant access to seeing others’ doubts. It can affect us all. But we can be prepared to face any questions, temptations, or fears. We might not know everything about the gospel (how could we know all celestial truths in a telestial world), but we can hold on to the truths that we do know and be prepared for anything that comes our way.

The Infinite Atonement by Tad R. Callister

This book took me a long time to get through. The concepts are so deep and profound and you will understand Christ’s atonement in a whole new way. The depth, breadth, and power of the atonement are more than I ever knew and will ever know. But the way he talks about it is actually understandable.
