For me, a new year means a new method of scripture study. Since I follow the Come Follow Me schedule, that means my main book of study for 2024 will be the Book of Mormon. I love learning about new methods for studying the scriptures and am on a journey to do as many as possible. I’ve already shared the method I use for my family Come Follow Me study. But let’s talk about my personal scripture study. Here is how I plan to study the Book of Mormon in 2024.
First, I’ll be using a journal edition of the Book of Mormon. These have been around for a while, but I’ve never used one and am really excited to use the wide margins to write down my thoughts, insights, or questions. Plus, I haven’t used a “clean slate” for a very long time. I’m excited to see what new things stand out to me.
Another thing I’m very excited to use for the first time are these Book of Mormon stickers by Becky Higgins. They even come organized with the Come Follow Me schedule so it’s super easy to use and know exactly where to put them. Plus, they’re aesthetic is adorable. I can’t wait to fill my new scriptures with them.
As for writing utensils, I’m excited to use these color-coded pens to underline and write down my thoughts in the margins. I love how smooth these ones write and they are specifically made for marking up scriptures!

As for how I plan to color code my scriptures – well, there are so many ways. Some of my favorites are highlighting all the different names of God. I also really enjoyed color-coding all of the principles of the gospel. I learned so much with that one. I believe that studying the scriptures can be fun! Think about what type of a learner you are. Visual? Reading/Writing? Audio? Whatever works for your learning style, there’s a method for you! You just need to be creative and be consistent. And when we make daily scripture study a habit in our lives, I know that we can have increased heavenly power in our lives. And who doesn’t want that?
