How I Color Code My Book of Mormon

This year I got a brand new Book of Mormon. The unmarked pages really made me ponder about how I wanted to start marking up my scriptures. I decided to start with my favorite way I have ever color-coded my Book of Mormon: marking the principles of the gospel.

I’ll explain that system below, but I also wanted to include other ways you can color code your Book of Mormon. We should always be reading, and learning new things. But as for right now, here is how I color code my Book of Mormon.

My Favorite System

Years ago, in my old Book of Mormon, I marked every principle of the gospel. Faith in pink, Repentance in orange, Baptism in yellow, and the gift of the Holy Ghost in green. You could also add enduring the end in blue if you want. I learned so much marking them that way. So, when I received a brand new Book of Mormon, I knew I needed to start with that method.

Before I share a few other ideas on how to color code your Book of Mormon, here are my favorite scripture markers. They are gel markers, so they don’t bleed or smear, and they come in a variety of different color themes! I got the pastel ones.

Other Systems:

Names of Christ

Another favorite way to mark my Book of Mormon is by highlighting all the different names of Christ. I do this in yellow because Christ is the light of the world. But you can do it however you like. How often is Christ mentioned in the Book of Mormon? Mark it up and see!

My Daughter’s System

I came across this little key in my daughter’s Book of Mormon and really liked the different categories. This will probably what I do next time I read the Book of Mormon. What a creative girl!

Attributes of Christ

I haven’t done this one yet, but I love the idea. The whole point of life is to become more like Christ, right? So, maybe you could mark up all the attributes of Christ. How can the scriptures help you learn about Christ? Study His attributes and you’ll be an expert!
