Working out has been part of my daily routine for over a decade now and the older I get, the more I realize how important and beneficial it is! In fact, the older I get, the more I realize how quickly you can lose your fitness when you skip even just one day. I’m no gym rat, but I do have a goal to get my heart rate up and move my body for at least 30 minutes a day. It also does wonders for my mental health. I notice a difference in my mood when I don’t workout.
So, I thought I would bring you along with me for a week of my workouts!
Monday
I like to start the week off with something simple so I won’t talk myself out of it. I head to the gym after I get the kids off to school and walk on the treadmill at an incline for at least 30 minutes. I usually listen to Come Follow Him to get started on my Come, Follow Me study.
Tuesday
This is my cycling day. Can I tell you a secret? I really don’t like cycling. But I have a super tight hamstring and it has helped a lot with that. I hop on my husband’s iFit trainer in his office and pick somewhere beautiful in the world to ride. My favorites so far have been Banff and Maui. I tend to stick to the beginner settings and ride for 30-40 minutes. And I can’t wait to take those padded bike shorts off!
Wednesday
Back to the gym for an incline walk. I usually try to up the incline and/or walk for a longer period of time. But with Wednesday being late start, my whole schedule is kind of messed up and honestly, I’m happy if I get any workout in today.
Thursday
Ah, my favorite workout day! Jump roping. I used to jump rope 3-4 times a week, but I have really stalled out on improving any tricks or routines, so I’ve cut back to jumping once a week for more variety of workouts. I prefer to jump on my patio, but if it’s too cold, I’ll go to the gym and find a more secluded spot so everyone’s not watching, It’s definitely a sight! You can read all about my jump rope story here, including what ropes and mats I use.
Friday
Back to the gym, but this time I do strength training and stairs. I usually spend about 25 minutes lifting weights. Then, I go over to the stair machine and go for about 10-15 minutes. It’s hard and burns my chest, but if feels GOOD!
Saturday
My intention on Saturdays is always to go on a beautiful hike, but more often than not I take a 30 minute walk around my neighborhood, or head back to the gym for an incline walk. I have lots to do on Saturdays, so I don’t like to spend too much time at the gym. But again, if I can just get my heart rate up for at least 30 minutes, I consider it a success!
My Workout Favorites
These are my absolute favorite leggings. I have some for working out and some for wearing with outfits. They are the best!
These are the same brand as the leggings, but shorts. I prefer to wear these when working out as leggings can get hot sometimes, but I love both.
If you would rather have longer and looser shorts, these ones are so cute! I love the hem and they have pockets!
Nike Pro Dri-FIT Flex Vent Max Shorts
These are another longer pair that I really like! Great for hiking especially.
This is my favorite workout tank and it’s on major sale right now. Regular $34 on sale for $14, plus free shipping! Comes in other colors too.
I grabbed a few of these shirts from Walmart for $7 and they are SO soft and comfy. They come in lots of cute colors too.
This tank is so soft and looks so cute! It comes in white and gray and is on sale right now!
This is my favorite workout tee. Buttery soft and the cutest fit. Comes in tons of colors!
These are my running/walking shoes and the only brand I will ever buy. So comfy and supportive and cute.
Brook’s Revel Neutral Running Shoe
These are my favorite shoe for jump roping. I love that it’s a neutral shoes and not super padded and clumpy. Perfect for jumping.
I wear these socks for jumping as well. They are really supportive around the ankle and calf and so cute!
These are my favorite running/walking/every day sock. They keep your feet nice and dry and comes in lots of colors.
This is the bike trainer I use. It’s amazing! I love the huge screen that makes me feel like I’m biking somewhere else in the world. I love the automatic incline and resistance. And it comes with a 30 day free trial of iFit! AND it’s on major sale right now!
This is the perfect beginner rope. I used it for almost 2 years until I wanted to increase my speed. It’s really easy to use and move around helping you to learn new tricks.
I started using this as I got better and faster. This is a speed rope and is moves really clean and easily making routines a lot smoother.
After jumping on a yoga mat and promptly ruining it, I upgraded to this and have loved it ever since. It protects my rope and the padding is perfect!
