I’m not a big reader, but for some reason I created a big list of books I would love to read this year. There’s quite a list. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get through them all, but here’s to trying. Have you read any of these? If not, you should join me and we can read them together. I divided them into 3 categories: spiritual, business, and self-improvement. Are there any others I should add to this list? Let me know! Here are the books I’m planning to read in 2025.
Spiritual
I already finished this one and highly recommend it. I especially loved the part about the connection between obedience and intelligence, and knowledge and diligence.
The History of JosephSmith by His Mother
I also finished this one recently. A great read to go along with your study of the Doctrine and Covenants.
Drawing Upon the Spiritual Treasures of the Temple
I’m always ready to learn more about the temple. I’ve heard good things about this book.
Another temple book! I’m ready to dive deep into temple symbols!
Gifted: Spiritual Gifts and the Christlike Life
I’ve always been fascinated with spiritual gifts, and can’t wait to learn more with this book.
This is a brand new book by Elder Uchtdorf that I just know is going to be amazing!
I’m a fan of this author, and the title just sucked me in! It’s going to be good.
I just saw someone post about this and thought it looked really interesting!
Business
I’m in the middle of reading this and it’s SO good! Does a great job at teaching you how to be an effective communicator in all aspects of your life.
Being somewhat of an entrepreneur, I’m excited to read this highly-recommended book.
I haven’t read this yet, but it seems like it might be as much of a self-help book as it is a business book. Have you read it? Tell me what you think!
This book seems perfect for a content creator! It’s all about the power of storytelling.
I feel like this could be beneficial for a business or for anyone! Can’t wait to read it.
This one was highly recommended. I even heard the author on a podcast, and can’t wait to learn more!
Excited to learn more about being an effective leader.
Here’s another one about the power of story telling. So important in content creation.
How to achieve greater things? Yes, please!
Self-Improvement
I listened to a podcast episode that lightly covered this and it was mind-blowing! Can’t wait to read the book. I already bought it because I know I’ll love it!
Creating meaningful moments on purpose, and how that can benefit our lives. I think that’s what I will get out of this book. Sounds interesting.

A couple of the spiritual books are also on my list. A couple of the business/self help sound interesting. I recommend Supercommunicators and Anxious Generation and Remember by Lisa Genova if you haven’t read them.
These are a couple I have on my list. “Worth the Wrestle: Why the Church Matters” by Steven C. Harper and “Living in the Eleventh Hour” by Robert L. Millett. Your list looks great! I feel like I will never get through all the books I want to read. I also enjoy a good mystery or historical fiction.
I’m reading History of Joseph Smith by His Mother and The Power of Moments, too. If you haven’t read The Second Coming of the Lord by Gerald N. Lund, it is fantastic!
I also highly recommend The second Coming of the Lord by Gerald Lund!
I loved your list. I have a few of them and find them wonderful.
I wanted to make a suggestion for another category. I don’t know if you need this but I do. Just light/entertaining reading. I have a favorite series of “mysteries” that always helps me unwind at night. They make me laugh and think a bit. I do the more important reading (scriptures, podcasts, Gospel study, etc.) during the day.
I was really touched when I read in Sister Pat Holland’s obit (or life summary) that she could be found at night in bed with a favorite mystery. It justified me.
This is just a thought. 🙂
I love your idea of funny mysteries. I loved reading Jana Deleon Fortune mysteries but decided some of the language was not the best, it wasn’t horrible, but I would love to know your suggestions on humorous mystery books.
I just finished listening to The Let Them Theory on Audible. WOW. I don’t generally like self-help books but this one is amazing!
Unreasonable Hospitality was good! And all of Brene Brown books are totally worth reading as well. I highly recommend the Courage to be Disliked, The Anxious Generation, Essentialism, the Disciplined Pursuit of Less, The Power of Stillness Mindful Living for Latter-day Saints, Hold On to Your Kida, Why Parents Need to Matter More than Peers
