A Day in the Life

day in the life

What does a day in the life for me look like? I chose a random day this past week and documented the break down. Here’s what it looks like:

day in the life

6:30 AM: Alarm goes off and I look through my dark bedroom at my door to see if I can see light shining through the cracks. I can, which means that my 15-year-old is up and ready for school (if it’s dark, it usually means he missed his alarm). I throw on my favorite crewneck and go downstairs to give him a hug and and say goodbye.

6:45 AM: I sit in the quiet living room and study the Book of Mormon until I get the other kids up at 7.

7:30 AM: I make my morning drink, a lunch for my youngest son, and eat a couple protein balls. Then I change into my workout clothes.

7:45 AM: I take my youngest son to school and remind my 18-year-old daughter to not be late for class (she only has a couple classes).

8:00 AM: Arrive at the gym. I post my daily Instagram post before I get out of the car and make sure links and everything else is good to go. At the gym, I usually do 30 minutes of either incline walking, strength training, or jump-roping. The last ten minutes of my workout, I listen to a general conference talk so I can discuss it with my friend.

8:45 AM: As I drive home, I hop on Marco Polo and discuss my thoughts on the general conference talk. When I get home, I check Instagram for any questions on my post or DM’s. I try to answer as many as I can. Jase is barking at the door, so I take him out for a mini-walk and make sure he has food and water.

9:15 AM: I shower, pray, get dressed, do my hair and makeup, and make my bed. I searched for a podcast or audio book to listen to while I was getting ready, but didn’t find anything that appealed to me, so silence it is. I really like silence.

10:10 AM: I sit down and open my work dashboard to see what I need to do today. It’s a Tuesday, which means I film all of the next week’s Instagram reels. I film a couple, change my shirt, and film a couple more. After filming, I sit down with my drink and some chocolate and edit the videos.

12:00 PM: Since it’s a work day, I DoorDash my lunch. It’s a Christmas present I gave to myself and I LOVE IT! My lunch arrives and I eat while I check social media and emails. My daughter and her friend show up and we eat lunch together and chat.

12:45 PM: I clean up the kitchen and make my afternoon drink. I take Jase out again and try to run out some of his energy.

1:10 PM: I sit down with my laptop and log into my school dashboard. I look at the weekly assignments and decide what I have time to do right now. I decide to do some reading assignments.

2:00 PM: I need a break from reading so I finish editing my Instagram reels and check DM’s.

2:45 PM: My son walks in the door and I ask him why he didn’t stay after for track. He reminds me that it’s B day, so he had track for 8th period and they’re done. I chat with him while he makes himself a giant bowl of cereal.

3:25 PM: My youngest son walks in the door and I immediately remind him to have a drink and a snack (or our afternoon will not be pretty). I remind everyone to do homework and to put things away. Again. And again. The next hour or two are basically spent managing 3 teenagers emotions and avoiding contention. It’s quite the feat.

5:00 PM: I start making dinner. I pull out the rotisserie chicken I chopped a few days before, cook some linguine, and start on the sauce. Josh gets home and we try to embarrass the kids a little bit. He helps me finish dinner and we chat about our days.

5:45 PM: After we eat, the kids do the dishes while Josh and I flop on the couch and chat some more. He answers all the bishop texts from the day and I check Instagram and emails again.

6:45 PM: We get ready to go to the church for youth activities.

8:30 PM: I get home, the boys usually walk home a little later, and Josh is always the last one back. I forget to do Come, Follow Me and immediately tell the kids to get ready for bed.

9:30 PM: I tell the kids goodnight and go upstairs and get in my pajamas, wash my face, and brush my teeth. I get in bed and read a chapter of my book, then check my phone again. I turn the TV on, turn out the light, and go to sleep. (I love falling asleep to the TV and Josh turns it off when he comes in.) Good night!
