The other day, my friend and I were talking about marriage. We both have been married about the same number of years (coming up on 14 for me). We noticed that many of our friends or acquaintances are going through really rough times in their marriages, some ending in divorce. Most of these individual situations came as a huge shock to my friend and I. In most cases, their marriages looked like a fairy-tale from the outside. So it got me thinking…how many marriages are really a “fairy-tale?”
Most people would never air their dirty laundry, and I don’t blame them. So I decided to create a poll – an anonymous poll. I want to know. Do you consider your marriage or relationship a fairy-tale? Do you completely trust your spouse and hardly even argue? Are you as happy as you seem?
Or, are you dealing with some heavy issues? (i.e. addiction, infidelity, disease or sickness, mistrust, etc.) These issues don’t necessarily mean you are on the brink of divorce, but it’s a definite strain on your marriage.
I talked to my husband about where we thought our marriage stands. We both agreed that it’s no fairy-tale (we argue in a healthy constructive way) and we even annoy each other on purpose. Gasp! But we both trust each other and feel completely secure. SO, let’s see how the poll adds up! Where do you rank your relationship?
