Happy International Women’s Day! In honor of all the amazing, powerful, and beautiful women out there (that’s you!) here are a few of my favorite quotes by leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
“It is time to live up to the confidence that our Father demonstrated in us by sending us to Earth now, when everything is on the line.” -Sheri Dew
“Our small acts of faith and service are how most of us can continue in God and eventually bring eternal light and glory to our family, our friends, and our associates. You truly carry a circle of influence with you!” -Neill F. Mariott
“We need more of the distinctive, influential voices and faith of women. We need them to learn the doctrine and to understand what we believe so that they can bear their testimonies about the truth of all things.” – M. Russell Ballard
“You … are vibrant and enthusiastic beacons in an ever-darkening world as you show, through the way you live your lives, that the gospel is a joyful message.” -Harriet Uchtdorf
“Noble and great. Courageous and determined. Faithful and fearless. That is who you are and who you have always been. And understanding it can change your life, because this knowledge carries a confidence that cannot be duplicated any other way.” –Sheri Dew
“To be a righteous woman is a glorious thing in any age. To be a righteous woman during the winding up scenes on this earth, before the second coming of our Savior, is an especially noble calling. The righteous woman’s strength and influence today can be tenfold what it might be in more tranquil times.” -Spencer W. Kimball
“The women inside the church or out who feel that they must have more than their womanhood demands are but shortsighted and do not recognize the full scope of their God given powers.” -Leah Widtsoe
“The place of woman in the Church is to walk beside the man, not in front of him nor behind him. In the Church there is full equality between man and woman. The gospel, which is the only concern of the Church, was devised by the Lord for men and women alike.” -John Widtsoe
“Throw away the mirrors and look through the window.” -Cheryl A. Esplin
“I believe that the moment we learn to unleash the full influence of converted, covenant-keeping women, the kingdom of God will change overnight.” -Sheri Dew
Much of the major growth that is coming to the Church in the last days will come because many of the good women of the world (in whom there is often such an inner sense of spirituality) will be drawn to the Church in large numbers. This will happen to the degree that the women of the Church reflect righteousness and articulateness in their lives and to the degree that the women of the Church are seen as distinct and different—in happy ways—from the women of the world. -Spencer W. Kimball
“Look backward, remembering that you proved your worthiness in your premortal state. You are a valiant child of God, and with His help, you can triumph in the battles of this fallen world. You have done it before, and you can do it again.” -Neil A. Anderson
“Being more does not necessarily equate to doing more.” -Michelle D. Craig
“Heavenly Father has a plan for all of us, and we will never be who he wants us to be if we are constantly trying to guess what others want us to become.” -unknown
“None of us came to this earth to gain our worth; we brought it with us.” –Sheri Dew
“If the world loses the moral rectitude of its women, the world will never recover.” -Russel M. Nelson
“We, your brethren, need your strength, your conversion, your conviction, your ability to lead, your wisdom, and your voices. The kingdom of God is not and cannot be complete without women who make sacred covenants and then keep them, women who can speak with the power and authority of God!” -Russel M. Nelson
