General Conference Cinnamon Rolls

general conference cinnamon rolls

There are a few things that just make General Conference feel like General Conference—and for our family, these cinnamon rolls are one of them!

We’ve made them enough times that the smell of cinnamon and brown sugar coming from the kitchen is practically part of our Conference weekend tradition. They’re soft, gooey, buttery, and exactly the kind of breakfast treat you want to eat while you’re curled up on the couch listening to the leaders of the Church.

I love that General Conference traditions don’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it’s a new notebook, a cozy blanket, a favorite breakfast, or everyone gathering in the same room for a few hours. These cinnamon rolls have become one of those little things our family looks forward to every six months.

So whether you’re feeding a house full of kids, making breakfast for two, or just want something delicious to enjoy while you study and listen, I hope these General Conference Cinnamon Rolls become part of your tradition, too!

General Conference Cinnamon Rolls

  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. yeast
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar

Dissolve yeast in water and sugar. Set aside to begin working.

  • 1 c. butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 c. warm water
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 6 1/2 c. flour

Mix butter, eggs, baking powder, water, sugar, and salt. Add yeast mixture. Then add 3 cups of flour and beat. Add 3 1/2 cups of flour. Beat as you add. May need more flour. The softer the dough, the lighter the rolls. Beat until mixed. Let rise until double. Test by inserting finger and if the depression stays, it is ready. Roll out into large rectangle. Top with melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Roll up into cinnamon rolls and place on baking sheet. Let rise again. Use finger test to see if they are ready. Bake at 400 for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
